Troi Dialog 2.1
Tuesday 28th August, 2001
Since we looked at version 2.0 of the Dialog plug-in, not much has changed. It’s still a must have tool for your FileMaker toolbox and it works seemlessly to give a professional touch.
As with Text 2.1, it’s been upgraded for FileMaker Pro 5.5 compatibility so now it’s described as a ‘Super Fat’ plug-in that will run on Mac OS 8 and 9, as well as OS X. In terms of end user functionality, you can now name the title bar text of your dialog boxes.
Much thought has gone into the functionality of these dialog boxes. For example the list dialog box can force users to pick an item before certain buttons are enabled. Button text is user-definable and simple dialog boxes displaying information can be given a time-out.
There’s even a progress bar dialog box, so you can tell users how far through a script you’ve reached. The documentation explaining this is now exemplary. It features new functions for displaying the plug-in’s registration details and for checking the version number.
FileMaker users who have this essential item in their arsenal will be pleased to hear that upgrading from previous versions of the plug-in is free and that their registration details will work as before.
PRICE Single user license: $35, Developer Single Platform $169, Developer Cross Platform $299
This is an excellent utility that no serious FileMaker user, or developer, should be without
